How does Testosterone get so Low

Beyond a natural decline of 1% per year after the of age of 30, men's production of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) which in turn stimulates testosterone also decreases with aging, which lowers testosterone production. Moreover, a protein that binds up and holds onto testosterone called sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) increases in older men. These factors together reduce the amount of free (unbound) testosterone in a man's blood that is available to tissues such as muscles, and to organs like the penis.

Some of the symptoms of low testosterone are decreased sex drive or libido, no or poor erections, lowered sperm count, sudden gain in weight, soft muscles and increased breast size to name a few. Some men with low testosterone have hot flashes, increased irritability, inability to concentrate and depression. Men with severely low testosterone may lose body hair and muscle mass. Their bones may be more prone to fracture. Their testes may become smaller and softer. to read more about testosterone deficiency symptoms in more detail, visit Is It Low T?

With our Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), lower-than-normal testosterone levels can be regulated and modified. We can prescribe a male hormone replacement program comprised of testosterone, HCG and other testosterone boosters for men who have very low levels of testosterone. Low Testosterone therapy treatments are available as injections, creams, patches and gels.

Testosterone Therapy is not just about enhancing muscle mass or sex drive, but it improves overall performance of a man in routine life activities including boosting motivation and alertness. In reality, although not prescribed for anti-aging purposes, it’s an "anti-aging formula" for hormone deficient men that performs magically to help remove the signs of aging while promoting youthfulness and vitality for more years.

Why men need Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Men's sex hormone levels decline 1% each year after the age of 30 and the impact is gradually felt in loss of energy, muscle, sex drive and erectile dysfunction. Testosterone is considered the "hormone of sexual desire". Men who receive testosterone hormone therapy look and feel younger. Patients report a dramatic increase in sex drive, duration and quality of their erections. Erections became firmer and sensation and desire to engage in sex had a profound impact on their relationships and quality of life. Increasing low testosterone levels helps to improve mood, memory and sleep. Men are able to build stronger leaner muscle and increase bone strength which helps treat osteoporosis. Balanced Testosterone and Human Growth Hormone levels are essential maintaining a healthy strong body and when these hormone levels are low, both men and women experience adverse health conditions that are normally attributed to aging:

  • Low Sex Drive - Libido
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Softer, Weaker Erections
  • Loss of Energy and Fatigue
  • Loss of Lean Muscle Mass
  • Mood Swings and Irritability
  • Excessive or Rapid Weight Gain
  • Depression, Sadness or Withdrawal
  • Sleep Disturbances, Insomnia, Night Sweats
  • Memory Loss, Inability to Focus or Concentrate
  • Loss of Ambition, Drive and Enthusiasm for Life

Testosterone Hormone Therapy is used to replace or restore your hormones to optimal, healthy levels. Hormone Replacement Specialists, Endocrinologists, Urologists and Anti-Aging Doctors all agree that men and women age because their hormone levels decline. This creates an imbalance or deficiency that prevents your body from properly maintaining, healing and repairing itself resulting in the signs and symptoms of aging. Through hormone optimization, and a healthy lifestyle, a person can help prevent and even reverse many of the negative impacts of aging which is why many Age Management Physicians offer holistic treatment programs that incorporate natural hormone therapies with anti-aging supplements, exercise, weight loss and stress management programs.

Testosterone Treatment is not for Bodybuilders and Athletic Performance. Boosting testosterone for enhancing athletic performance, weightlifting or bodybuilding competitions are not approved uses for prescription testosterone replacement therapy. While is is true that in order to increase their muscle mass sports competitors will combine HGH and Testosterone with other anabolic steroids, prescription testosterone should not be used for that purpose.

Low T in Men

Testosterone and Male Aging

Testosterone Therapy can successfully replenish low testosterone levels in men. Most men who enroll in a Testosterone Replacement Program experience a variety of positive treatment results including a dramatic increase in their sex drive, a desire to have more sex, increased muscle mass, reduced belly fat, weight loss, better sleep, improved mental functioning, increased drive and ambition, elevated mood and an enthusiasm for daily life.

How Doctors Treat Low Testosterone

Testosterone Replacement Therapy uses 3 types of prescription drug medication:

  • Testosterone: This hormone is used to optimize your levels of testosterone, it is prescribed as an injection, patch, pellet implant, cream and gel.
  • HCG: Injectable HCG is a hormone used to prevent testicular shrinkage (atrophy) and maintain a man's natural production of testosterone. It is prescribed and taken either during your treatment cycle or post treatment.
  • Estrogen Blockers or Inhibitors: Armidex or Anastrazole is an anti-estrogen hormone drug. It is used to control the estrogen levels that may become elevated while on testosterone replacement because excess testosterone naturally converts to estrogen in a man's blood - known as aromatization.

It is prescribed in a pill or tablet from.
  • To determine whether you are a candidate for a testosterone therapy, you will consult with an experienced hormone physician and get a physical examination. Your doctor will review your medical history, order hormone lab tests and perform a medical evaluation. If you qualify for TRT, the potential benefits, any possible risks and side effects will be discussed with you so you can make an informed decision about taking hormone replacement therapy.
