Testosterone Therapy - Low T Treatment

Androgens like Testosterone are male hormones that affect many biological processes ranging from a healthy sex drive and good mental outlook - to the growth of male dominant features and organs. Androgen Deficiency (AD), also known as hypogonadism, occurs when these hormones fall below specific age-related levels causing a man to feel tired all the time, moody, have soft erections or lose interest in sex, gain excessive weight, get flabby muscles and lose enthusiasm for work and relationships.

Testosterone Deficiency, when properly diagnosed, can be treated effectively and many of the symptoms can be reversed or eliminated. Androgen Deficiency due to age is the main cause of Low Testosterone, also called "Low T" or Andropause in men.

Our Testosterone Treatment Centers have hormone physicians with 20 years of experience treating andropause symptoms and over 18,000 patients nationwide. Read more below about Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Testosterone Replacement Therapies exist in a variety of hormone replacement preparations and delivery methods. These include long and short acting intramuscular testosterone injections, transdermal hormone patches, transdermal gels, testosterone creams, implantable hormone pellets and oral preparations. The appropriate therapy will be determined in a comprehensive medical consultation with you, the patient and your hormone replacement specialist.

Testosterone Therapy Cost. The costs of the various testosterone medications and preparations may be a factor, and are given consideration during the discussion with your testosterone doctor. The goal of testosterone supplementation is to boost Low T Levels sufficiently in order to bring your testosterone into the normal range, but not exceed the range that is optimal for you.

Giving Yourself Testosterone Shots. With some guidance from your testosterone physician, you should be able to administer your low t treatment injections yourself with minimal discomfort. Testosterone therapy should be affordable and not have unwanted effects on the prostate, serum lipids, or cardiovascular, liver and lung functions. For this reason, your hormone replacement doctor will schedule follow up visits and blood work to ensure you are injecting or applying the proper dose of testoserone for your therapy.

Intramuscular Injections are the most effective for most men in maintaining optimal testosterone levels. Testosterone injections provide a very high degree of control over dosage including frequency of administration.

Testosterone Gels are applied like a topical medical cream and produce serum levels of testosterone in the normal range. They afford a moderate degree of control by varying the amount that is applied. Many men have concerns regarding transfer to other family members or lovers. Some men do not absorb the testosterone from the gel or cream as well as others. The gel and cream treatment method was introduced in the year 2000.

Oral Testosterone preparations include adhesive gums and pills that can produce above normal high concentrations of the testosterone hormone that varies significantly between administrations and among individuals providing dosing challenges. Pills are not recommended by most testosterone replacement physicians as they can cause liver toxicity. The buccal (oral adhesive gum) testosterone formulation introduced in 2003, is placed high between the cheek and gums and is seen to be a safe and effective Low T therapy.

Testosterone Pellets. One of the most recent testosterone therapies introduced is the Implantable Hormone Pellet that provides 3 to 6 months of steady hormone release into the body. These require a visit to the doctor's office and a small incision be made to implant the testosterone pellets that are a little bigger than a grain of rice.
